MBA Student Wins Daughters of Ataturk Award
Ozge Saritosun WG’05, has received the Daughters of Ataturk Award given to women who contributed to the Turkish community and to the Turkish–American way of life. She has received this award as a result of the Global School Link project. As vice-president of the Rotaract Club at the United Nations, she started a project to help an impoverished high school in Denizli, Turkey. The project raised over $11,000, which helped donate a 20-machine computer lab to the high school.

The International "Daughters of Ataturk" Institution has announced the award winners for the categories "Women of Distinction" and "Turkish Heritage Award" 2003.

     - Ms. Feriha Resitoglu (President of the Womens Club of the Western Thrace Turkish Association)

"The Daughters of Ataturk" declared that, the recipients of these awards were outstanding contributors to the Turkish Communities in Australia, and have demonstrated their successful efforts in promoting the Turkish way of life. They have become positive role models through their vision,leadership and innovation.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the award winners and sincerely wish Ms. Ozgun, Ms. Resitoglu and Mr. Ozdemir further success for the future.

Atatürk’ün Kızları’ndan Atatürk kızına ödül

ABD'de faaliyet gösteren Atatürk'ün Kızları Derneği'nin (Daughters of Atatürk Society), bu yıl beşincisini düzenlediği ‘Kadın Ödülü’ dört kişiye verildi. Başkanlığını Sema Karaoğlu'nun yaptığı Atatürk'ün Kızları Derneği, bu yıl Atatürk ile ilgili yaptıkları çalışmalar ve yayınlardan dolayı Prof. Suna Kili, Justin McCarthy ve Stanford J. Shaw'a başarı ödülü verdi.

ABD'den Avustralya'ya, Asya'dan Avrupa'ya çeşitli ülkelerden kadınlara verilen ödüllerden birini de 40 yıl önce öğrenci olarak gittiği ABD'de hemşirelik eğitimi alıp profesör olan İzmir doğumlu Ayhan Lash aldı. 62 yaşındaki iki çocuk annesi Lash'ın Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Hemşirelik Yüksek Okulu öğretim üyesi olan kardeşi Prof. Dr. Hülya Okumuş, ‘‘Ablamla meslektaşız. O da Şikago'da Hemşirelik Yüksekokulu'nda profesör. Aldığı ödülle çok gururlandık’’ dedi.
