Esin Atil, a native of Turkey who resides in Northern Virginia, received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan, Ann
Arbor. Dr. Atil has been the curator of Near Eastern art at the Smithsonian Institution's Freer Gallery of Art in Washington,
D.C. and was also featured extensively as an expert scholar at last year's PBS Documentary on Ottomans and Islam: "Empire of
Faith”.
