Dear Daughters of Ataturk: As
we begin a new year, I would like to wish each and every one of you
a healthy, happy and serene year and want to dedicate this letter to
the International Turkish women who have shown vision and
leadership; being proud in their ethnic identity and determination.
A lot has happened these past
two years and even though it might not seem that we have
accomplished a lot, we are, little by little, realizing our dream to
make the international Turkish women known the world over. We had
Azra Akin who was crowned Miss World, Sureyya Ayhan, an excellent
athlete who won the European Gold in 1500 meters, a singer, Sertap
Erener who won the Eurovision Song contest and many scientists who
were recognized and honored for their work.
Each of these had press
coverage with both Turkey’s name and as Turkish women.
Daughters of Ataturk is proud
to be instrumental in the dissemination of this information.
We have been getting a lot of
requests for information on prominent Turkish women, with which we
have been trying to comply. Our members are mentioned in their
school, professional society papers and newspapers.
In 2004 Daughters of Ataturk
will continue to pursue these goals as stated in our founding
statement as well as helping some charities both at our homeland and
the countries we live in.
Daughters of Ataturk wishes
you a year of success. Please visit our updated website and read
about these Turkish women.
Sincerely,
Sema Karaoglu
